Music Festival

We had a fabulous day yesterday, the sun shone and all the village turned out for the very first sparkly North Nibley Music Festival. Beer was provided by Wickwar Brewery and slipped down well. There were stalls telling us about the Tyndale Monument, you could guess the name of the teddy, decorate a biscuit, buy lovely jewellery and of course the indomitable WI were there with home made cakes and cups of char. The music was sublime, mostly local talent, we listened and bopped along to:

Macaroni Penguins

old favourites Brian Wilcox, ex The Chill, now appearing as:
Wilcox & Brooks

Others who got us all going were Big John, Treefrogs, Pete Tayler, fabulous local boy band TWiG, Pigs Might Fly, and the homegrown talent of Lucy Hellier who is now wowing Bristol audiences with her keyboard and songwriting.

Lots was happening on the Busker Stage where there was an open mike. We caught promising Roy Hewish singing and playing his guitar; the gorgeous North Nibley School Choir did a couple of numbers. Proceeds are to be divided between the School, the Village Hall, the Sports Pavilion and many other voluntary groups in the village.

A date for your diary - the next North Nibley Music Festival is: July 12th 2008!

Glad you enjoyed the festival. I thought it was a brilliant day. And congratulations on getting a good photo of all the Macaroni Penguins. It may be the only one in existence!
